Notary Public

What is a notary public and when would I use one?

A Notary Public is a person authorised to perform certain legal formalities. These include taking oaths, signs and witnesses documents for use in Australia and international documents for use in foreign countries.

You may seek out a Notary Public to draw up or certify contracts, deeds and other documents for use in other countries.

You may need a Notary Public to verify documents or certify copies of certain documents. In these situations, you must first confirm your identity with the 100-point identity check. Once that is confirmed we can go ahead and nortarise the required documents.

Recently, a client asked us to notarise their “Power of Attorney” document so that it could be accepted in India. Other clients from non-Commonwealth countries have requested that we witness their affidavit to affirm its validity.

When a Notary Public performs such tasks, the Notary Public will annex their signature to the document with a Notarial seal.

As a Notary Public in Sydney, we can do the following tasks for you:

  • Authenticating official, government and personal documents
  • Authenticating your identity
  • Witnessing your signature to documents
  • Certifying true copies of original documents for use overseas
